General EducationMay 13, 2019

There is a world of opportunity available to those who obtain a Class A CDL. While some decide to go the traditional route and become commercial truck drivers, some choose other options. No matter what path you choose, the Fortis Commercial Driving program can help prepare you to work behind the wheel.

With a Class A CDL license, successful graduates can work as the following:

Commercial Truck Driver

A commercial driver (also known as “over-the-road drivers”) can take jobs that range from a few hundred miles to five weeks of driving. For those who decide to pursue commercial truck driving the road is not just a job, it is a lifestyle.

Bus Driver

Everyone has interacted with a bus driver. They have the responsibility of transporting passengers to city centers, university campuses, and theme parks safely. Drivers can work with charter companies to drive long distances, or work with tour companies to drive tourists to various sightseeing destinations.

Delivery Driver

Companies such as Amazon, FedEx, UPS, and USPS depend on delivery trucks to get their products across the nation. These workers must carefully transport food, furniture, equipment, and cargo safely.

Construction Equipment Operator

Few industries offer a more diverse selection of big vehicles than construction. Sites are home to skid steers, dump trucks, knuckle boom loaders, track hoes, flatbeds, cranes, and steamrollers. Navigating construction sites in heavy duty machinery requires an experienced driver who has a Class A CDL license.
